I was inspired to paint this Oil on canvas piece after watching ‘The last dance’. This great series rejuvenated my love for the game of basketball.
Jordan or 'MJ' was THE role model for any aspiring sports enthusiast during the 80's and 90's. As a basketball fan this was an easy choice for a subject to create as an oil painting.
This painting is oil on canvas with multiple layers of paint and glazes. Using palette Knives, brush strokes and detailed mark making.
I really enjoyed this painting, finding more and more detail to add with every layer. This resulted in painting every pore of the skin and every bead of sweat on his head.
It was a long process taking over 90 hours to paint but I hope you'll agree, it was well worth it.
